For April, your hosts Jim Clare, Cathy McGrath and Allen Hopkins are very pleased to Feature two of the most endearing Folk Artists in the Finger Lakes and Rochester region...John and Joe....

The DADY BROTHERS

The Dady Brothers, Western New York’s’ favorite troubadours, bring a unique variety of Celtic and American folk music to each and every performance.

Originally from Rochester, NY the brothers have shared their music in many diverse venues around the country and abroad for over thirty years.

John and Joe are self-styled singers, multi-instrumentalist musicians and composers. They have a solid command of many folk instruments including guitar, pennywhistle, fiddle, banjo, octave mandolin, harmonica, uilleann pipes, bodhran and ukulele. Their repertoire ranges from Irish folk ballads to original contemporary folk, bluegrass, and acoustic blues. They are at ease with their audiences and have a knack for finding humor in the moment and sharing it spontaneously.

The Dadys have received impressive reviews in many publications in America, Ireland and Canada, including: The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, Freetime Magazine, The Irish Echo, Sing Out, Dirty Linen, American History Magazine, Pickin’, The Cork Examiner, and Bluegrass Unlimited. Their music can also be heard on soundtracks for historical documentaries and on radio and television productions in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Slovenia, Italy, and Australia.

At the end of the evening, after having participated in the group jam, they couldn't resist playing more fiddle and banjo toe to toe. They've have been doing so ever since!

Kathy and Stephen each play fiddle, banjo and guitar, and both love to sing!  They perform foot-stompin’ fiddle and banjo tunes, haunting melodies, and old-time songs from the mountains of southern Appalachia.

Tunes By the Tracks for Wednesday, January 20th ~

Hosts Jim Clare, Cathy McGrath and Allen Hopkins are very pleased to feature:

Ernie and Andy Lawrence

Dad Ernie and Son Andy, hail from Perry, NY, and they've been playing around western NY as a duo for the last two years.  They serve up a variety of traditional American blues styles from Delta, and Chicago to Piedmont, along with straight up folk and some tasty original songs.  Strong vocal harmonies and solid acoustic guitars make Ernie and Andy a real musical treat!

Ernie played coffeehouses and other venues in the early 1970’s, and he got Andy started on guitar in his early teens.  Andy has played in bands, and performed solo in clubs in western New York, Philadelphia and Cincinnati.  Since the summer of 2007, Ernie and Andy have polished their act by working more than 150 shows in approximately fifty different venues.
